With nearly three decades of experience in civil litigation and a focused ethics practice since 2017, I advise, defend, and guide lawyers through the most complex professional responsibility challenges. As a former Chair of the Texas State Bar 6th District Grievance Committee and current Co-Chair of the ABA Section of Litigation Ethics & Professionalism Committee, I bring deep insight into the disciplinary system, the rules that govern us, and the realities of practicing law.
Whether you’re facing a grievance, updating your law firm policies, or trying to get ahead of risk, I offer grounded, informed guidance based on real-world experience. I consult nationwide on compliance with the Texas Disciplinary Rules and the ABA Model Rules, with particular experience in:
Defending Texas lawyers in grievance proceedings and legal malpractice claims
Navigating ethics issues in litigation—motions to disqualify, withdraw, or report misconduct
Advising and litigating about fee disputes, contingent fee agreements, and co-counsel relationships
Drafting law firm policies and procedures and training staff to reduce risk and improve compliance with the Rules
Based in Texas. Available to consult nationwide. Contact me at jhuey@hunthuey.com

Remember the Ethics Rules you studied in lawschool?
Those are the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, and each state with few exceptions has adopted most of those Rules in some form or another.
